World Launches World Money Super App

State of play: World, the identity-focused crypto project formerly known as Worldcoin, is rolling out World Money, a self-custodial "super app" live in more than 150 countries that combines stablecoin payments, trading, earning, and virtual accounts.

The app plugs into Stripe, Kalshi, and Morpho, letting US users convert Apple Pay funds into stablecoins within minutes.
World Money supports balances in eight currencies and enables international transfers of digital assets.
World ID verification is built into the app, unlocking boosted rewards on eligible Earn programs.
Feature and asset availability varies by jurisdiction, according to the announcement.
World operates under Tools for Humanity, co-founded by Alex Blania and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

Why it matters: World is betting that identity verification, not just custody, becomes the differentiator as stablecoin super apps compete for global payment volume.

Our take: Bundling payments, trading, and yield behind World ID is a smart lock-in play, but regulatory scrutiny on both stablecoins and biometric identity could slow the multi-country rollout.

For builders and investors: Watch how Stripe's Apple Pay to stablecoin rail performs in the US, it could become a template for fiat on-ramps elsewhere, and track WLD's price action for signs the market is pricing in super app adoption.

JPMorgan Sees Bitcoin Catching Up To Gold

JPMorgan analysts said bitcoin could see more support than gold if investors unwind their elevated ETF hedging positions, even as both assets have drawn inflows since late July's return of the debasement trade.

Gold ETFs have recovered all their 2026 outflows, while bitcoin ETFs have recovered only about half, per JPMorgan.
The debasement trade weakened this past week as real yields rose and the Clarity Act stalled in the Senate.
Short interest in BlackRock's IBIT remains near its 2026 high, versus below-average short interest in GLD.
IBIT's put-to-call open interest ratio also exceeds GLD's, signaling heavier hedging demand around bitcoin.
JPMorgan said reduced IBIT hedging could unlock more relative support for bitcoin versus gold going forward.

S&P Global Acquires OpenZeppelin for Security

Deal flows slowed down this week - we saw $135M+ in deals 💼

S&P Global has agreed to acquire smart contract security firm OpenZeppelin, expanding its ratings and risk business into onchain technology-risk assessment as digital assets markets mature.

OpenZeppelin will keep operating as a standalone unit, with CEO Demian Brener reporting to S&P Global Ratings President Yann Le Pallec.
Founded in 2015, OpenZeppelin's open-source libraries underpin over $37T in value transferred, including most major stablecoins and tokenized funds.
The firm has completed more than 900 security engagements for digital asset protocols and institutions.
Financial terms were not disclosed, and S&P Global said the deal is not expected to materially affect its results.
The acquisition remains subject to standard closing conditions.
